Black Ox Farming, led by founder and stud breeder Mr. Rogers Sithole, is a premier agricultural enterprise specializing in commercial and stud farming. With expertise in Boran and Nguni cattle, Mr. Sithole holds memberships in the Boran Cattle Society and the Nguni Cattle Breeders Association of South Africa. Black Ox Farming operates from its flagship farm, Witpunt, a 500-hectare property in Ermelo, South Africa, focused on cattle and sheep, including Boran stud breeding. Additionally, the company leases a 1104-hectare farm in Amersfoort, Zwelihle, dedicated to commercial cattle operations.
Our story
Livestock farming is the largest segment of South Africa’s agricultural industry, contributing over 40% to the total value of agricultural output and utilizing approximately 80% of the country’s agricultural land. Black Ox Farming saw an opportunity to contribute to this vibrant industry. Established in 2021 in Koppies, Free State, from a vision of wanting to own just a few Nguni cattle as a cultural need. In 2023 Black Ox Farming purchased its first farm in Ermelo Mpumalanga, where it focuses mainly on Stud Breeding. Black Ox Farming has evolved its vision to becoming one of the largest Boran Breeders in Africa, focusing on top Genetics. Furthermore, Black Ox Farming has established a Commercial herd, with the aim of having over a thousand breeding cows to supply to the beef industry.
